Description

Today’s digital photographer can effectively and dramatically deal with situations that previously caused major problems for photographers. For example, dealing with an extremely high contrast scene, employing a panoramic approach for a scene too wide for any lens or over coming the drawbacks of limited depth of field as is typical in close-up photography. There is even the option to record infrared light digitally in both B&W and IR color.

In this two-day introductory seminar, professional photographer Joseph Meehan will introduce, explain and illustrate how he uses all of the following approaches: (1) deciding between High Dynamic Range Tone Mapping and Exposure Fusion for high contrast scenes, (2) increasing effective depth of field through exposure stacking, (3) producing panoramic photographs up to 360-degrees through stitching techniques, and (4) using each of the two main approaches available today to produce digital infrared images. In addition, he will explain and illustrate how some of these techniques can be used in combination for even greater control over a subject or scene.

The goal of this course is to give attendees the basic knowledge necessary to effectively use these methods for extending their control over the final image as well as introducing various creative possibilities. Much of the information is taken from Meehan’s book: “Advanced Imaging” and attendees will receive a CD with key information about the techniques, software and equipment covered in the course.
