Description
Cameras hold a creative fascination for kids. Kids have a natural connection with animals. Why not bring all of this together in a photographic workshop designed to teach your child how to photograph animals? This one day workshop is an unusual opportunity for your child, ages 9-17, to join our staff as we draw upon years of experience photographing wildlife to show your child how to peer beyond the bars, zoom in on the zoological wonders at the Palm Beach Zoo, and capture compelling images of a more primal time. The Zoo is host to over 1400 kinds of animals, including Bengal Tigers, the Wings Over Water Bird Show, and Monkey Island. There are enticing monuments and 23 acres of lush tropical habitat to shoot as well, including a Mayan exhibit, beautiful lagoons, a colorful carousel, and an interactive water play fountain. Our staff will then lead students around the Zoo, teaching them all areas of natural photography from the basics of composition and image-taking with DSLR cameras in natural light to creative techniques, such as when to add fill-flash. Back in the classroom, students will receive a thorough critique of their work, including tips for improving their next photography experience. Raymond will help your child capture dramatic and artistic wildlife images, and make sure he or she has a great time doing it!
Participants will need to bring a camera with a telephoto lens in the 200 to 300mm range. Telephoto zooms such as a 70-200mm or a 70-300mm are perfect. Students may also borrow a Canon camera with a zoom lens, but you will need to notify the Centre in advance so that we have one available.
