Using the Local Adjustment Tools to take your images beyond the ordinary
Learn how to use the Graduated Filter, Adjustment Brush, and the Radial Filter to set your images apart from the crowd.
There is a famous quote by Ansel Adams, the renowned landscape photographer, “The negative is the equivalent of the composer’s score, and the print the performance.” Ansel was famous for having such luminous black and white prints, with full tonal ranges from deep blacks to glowing whites. A lot of the skill to make those images look so great, it was Adams ability to print in the darkroom using a variety of tools to burn (darken) and dodge (lighten) portions of his images to direct the viewers eye, and to make his image radiate light.
For the digital photographer of today the quote would be, “The raw file is the equivalent of the composer’s score, and the processed file the performance.” The tools we have for crafting these raw files from the ordinary to the extraordinary are the local adjustment tools. In Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom these local adjustment tools consist of the Adjustment Brush, the Radial Filter, and the Graduated Filter. With these tools you can take a good image and make it great! Learn how to get the most out of these tools and how to target localized adjustments using the Range Mask feature. Soon you will be creating masterpieces from your images.

Before class starts:
- Please make sure to have your camera, a charged battery, your manual (if you have it), and a memory card.

Refunds and Cancellations
If you need to withdraw from a virtual workshop, please inform us at least 7 days before the day of class and we will refund your payment, less a 10% withdrawal fee. No refund of payments will be made if you do not notify us of your withdrawal 7 days prior to the start of class unless a replacement is found to fill your vacant space. If a replacement is found we will refund your payment less the 10% withdrawal Fee. Please note that no refund of any fees will be made for no-shows or withdrawal after a workshop begins.
