Learn to create beautiful floral images. Flowers are like people. They have their good sides, angles and lighting that can accentuate their beauty. In the first 2 days of this three-day workshop, you will learn various ways to light and compose flowers for the most impact, whether a single bud or a colorful arrangement. You will use shells and other vessels along with soft draping to work with natural light in the studio as well as out in the field.
On the third day you will explore the use of pastels to create a turn of the century look. Adding that chalk-like texture to your print turns your image into a mixed media piece of art. Whether you are creating for yourself or sharing with the world, it will give your images a new feeling, from vibrant to etherial. Barbara will show various ways to use pastels along with the selection of paper to enhance your vision. You will hand color some of your images from the shoot, learning techniques on layering pastels and blending color, and walk away with your own pieces of art.

BARBARA ELLISON has been fortunate top be able to combine five loves – photography, art, gardening, travel and teaching – into her work. While a Pro-Market Representative for Canon USA for twenty-six years, she traveled throughout the US, lecturing and instructing on various photographic topics such as botanical and macro photography, printing and alternative processes. She now continues to teach workshops on art and photography, specializing in botanical imagery and creative printing. She has shown her work in galleries throughout the East Coast and in various books and publications. She continues to create mixed media pieces at her home in Virginia.
