Each workshop is instructed by a professional photographer and trained teaching assistants, who will introduce all levels of photography in a fun and engaging way according to each FOTOcamp participant’s degree of experience and personal interest. Each student receives individualized and group critiques of their work. Groups are limited to 14 participants to maximize the learning experience and ensure personal attention.
We issue each student a digital camera to use while on our Fotowalks and field trips beginning with the basics of picture-taking while exploring lighting, and composition of photographs. From here the students will work on file management, storage, and post-processing using Lightroom and Photoshop in our computer labs where each student has individual access to state of the art computers and the latest software.
Please call the Centre at (561) 253-2600 for additional information.
Camp begins each day at 9:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm. Parents can drop off their children at 8:30 am and must pick them up by 3:30 pm. If other arrangements need to be made for the drop off time and the pick-up time for the student you must make them in advance
Your imagination! A sack lunch, sunscreen, a hat, and a little pocket money. The Centre will provide the use of digital cameras and computers.
One of the greatest highlights for our students is that the best of each Fotocamp attendees’ images will be displayed in the Centre’s Museum during our community exhibition in conjunction with our 22 annual Members’ Juried Exhibition at the end of the summer. The exhibition dates are tbd.
During the reception, awards are presented honouring our young artists for their work. Best of Show receives the Best Student Award and a digital camera. Family, friends and the public are invited to attend.
FOTOcamp will be held in downtown West Palm Beach at our beautiful facility located in the City Hall Complex across from The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach. After meeting at the Centre each morning the students may go on Fotowalks around the downtown area or take field trips to off-site locations around Palm Beach County offering plenty of diversified photographic opportunities for their learning.
