Palm Beach Photography Workshop Explores Farmers Market
by Katie Yates
One thing we like to say at the Palm Beach Photographic Centre is, “Yes! We have a workshop for that!” Our impressive workshops cover every interest and every skill level. Many times, people are taking our classes in preparation for a trip. Regardless of your destination, we want you and your camera to be ready for whatever you come across! If you’re trying to capture that unique, jaw-dropping photo, you need to go where there is beauty, action, and vibrancy. Marketplaces have all this within a safe stroll—and you can sample great local food while you’re at it!
Maybe you want to explore the bazaars of Istanbul or neighborhood fruit stands in Italy. Nothing gets to the meat of a destination quite like their marketplace. The fish slingers at the Tokyo seafood auction, the leisure of an Edinburgh sidewalk market, the glistening produce at a Swiss farm stand—these speak for the people and the indescribable quality of a place. They’re more than long lines and tired tourist traps. Of course, American farmers markets and flea markets also tell a story. They’re just waiting for the right photographer!
The Palm Beach Photographic Centre is very lucky to be located in the heart of West Palm Beach. We’re right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of this diverse city. Walking distance from our Centre, we have access to incredible restaurants and some famous gems of South Florida. One of these highlights is the Green Market, a sprawling outdoor market. It features fresh produce from local vendors, handmade soap, handicrafts, and baked goods. It’s a frenzy of color, action, music, and smiles—presenting a refreshing challenge for any photographer!
We invite any and all to freshen their perspective by signing up for our four-hour workshop, Take Better Pictures: Morning Markets. With instructor Shane Srogi’s help, you will have the confidence and the know-how to grapple the crowds, lighting, commotion of any morning market—and have fun while doing it!
